·         Healthy serving demonstration. Teacher will demonstrate proper servings of food by asking for volunteers to come pour themselves a bowl of cereal. Teacher will then show actual serving size.

·         Students will learn to read food labels they brought in from their favorite foods.

·          Bell Work- What influence do family, friends, and activity have on your health ?

·         Presentation of “myface” projects.

·         Each student will present their projects to the class in an effort to practice public speaking skills. The purpose of the exercise is not only to learn about health influences, but also to get to know their classmates.

·         Each project will be graded from a 10 part checklist, with each part  being worth 10 points.

·         The objective for the day will be met by discussing influences listed on each student’s project.

·         Completion of Vocabulary Words: Nutrition, Calories, Nurtients,Hunger,Appetite,Carbohydrates,Fiber,Proteins,Lipids, Vitamins, and Minerals

·         Each Student will use their text book to define each of the vocabulary words listed above.

 

During the last 10 minutes of class, students will be given a vocabulary quiz. They will be asked to define two words, but they will be allowed to use the notes they took during the first part of class.

 

By defining AND understand the terms, students will be able to reach each objective for the day.
